Justin Rowan, Trumpet<\/p><\/div>\n

Justin\u00a0Rowan\u00a0is\u00a0an eclectic and versatile musician from Atlanta. He has performed on stage and in master classes with the\u00a0Chicago Brass Quintet<\/a>,\u00a0Boston Brass<\/a>, Spectrum Brass, The American Brass Quintet,\u00a0Thomas Hooten<\/a>, Robert Spano of the\u00a0Atlanta Symphony Orchestra<\/a>, Michael and Christopher Martin, The\u00a0Boston Symphony<\/a>\u00a0horn section, and members of the brass sections of the\u00a0New York Philharmonic<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Chicago Symphony Orchestra<\/a>\u00a0at the inaugural\u00a0National Brass Symposium<\/a>. He also performs as lead trumpet for Spectacle Brass, and Atlanta based brass quintet of which he is a founding member. Justin is currently a performing artist for the XO Brass line of Jupiter Band Instruments.<\/p>\n

During his time at\u00a0Kennesaw State University<\/a>, he studied with Jennifer Marotta,\u00a0Thomas Hooten<\/a>,\u00a0Dr. Douglas Lindsey, and Karin Bliznik. While attending\u00a0Kennesaw State<\/a>, he was an active performer in all musical outlets and styles. He performed with the Kennesaw State Jazz Ensemble 1 as lead trumpet, in the\u00a0Symphony Orchestra<\/a>\u00a0and Wind Ensemble as principal trumpet, and also in numerous chamber ensembles. In 2011 Justin performed with the KSU Symphony orchestra on a concert tour of Beijing and Xian, China.<\/p>\n

Justin has performed in numerous states and venues across the country. In 2014, Justin performed with the Georgia Symphony Orchestra as a featured soloist, and also continued his duties as a substitute musician in the orchestra as he has since 2011. In the summer of 2014 he attended the\u00a0Bay View Music Festival<\/a>\u00a0andSpectrum Brass Seminar<\/a>\u00a0on scholarship with his colleagues in Spectacle Brass. In 2013 he studied extensively with Jos\u00e9 Sibaja and Boston Brass, and also played alongside them with the Colorado Brass Band at the Crested Butte Music Festival. \u00a0Justin also\u00a0was a finalist in the 2013\u00a0Calvin Smith Brass Quintet Competition<\/a>\u00a0with\u00a0Spectacle Brass<\/a>. In 2012, he was selected as the principal trumpet of the\u00a0Georgia Music Educators\u2019 Association All-College Band<\/a>. In January of 2013, he played principal trumpet in the\u00a0Kennesaw State University<\/a>\u00a0production of Peter Gabriel\u2019s \u201cNew Blood\u201d, and in 2011 he performed in the same role on stage with the world renowned rock band \u201cKansas\u201d.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Rowan is also active as an avid educator in the Atlanta Area and beyond. He works with middle and high school programs and their brass sections, and has served as a visual and brass instructor for multiple marching band programs while also maintaining a private studio.\u00a0Justin\u00a0has served as the Vice President and Treasurer of\u00a0Kennesaw State University<\/a>\u2018s chapter of the\u00a0National Association for Music Education (NAfME)<\/a>. \u00a0In 2011,\u00a0Justin was one of 16 men to re-charter the Nu Theta chapter of\u00a0\u03a6MA Sinfonia<\/a>\u00a0at\u00a0Kennesaw State<\/a>, of which he has served as President, Historian, and as Officer of Alumni Relations. He represented the fraternity on a national level as Assistant Collegiate Province Representative from 2012 to 2013.<\/p>\n
